Tucson Bird Alliance Online Organizing Advocacy Campaign

Creator + Campaign Strategy + Community Engagement + Project Manager

In response to legislative attempts to dismantle the Migratory Bird Treaty Act (MBTA), I collaborated with Tucson Bird Alliance’s legal advocacy and conservation teams to launch the Free to Fly! campaign, leveraging the power of community storytelling to create a digital advocacy tool supporting the MBTA.

I conceptualized, created, launched, and managed this innovative campaign encouraging Tucson Bird Alliance members and community members to choose a favorite bird that migrates through Southeast Arizona and share it in a creative way - a painting, photo, poem, story - to build a “Virtual Flyway.”

Submissions were used to create a digital story map representing the phenomenon of migration through the stories of birds along their migratory routes.

Additionally, I wrote the Free to Fly! column in the Vermilion Flycatcher membership magazine and incorporated campaign communications into the social media strategy, posting updates across multiple social media channels and the Tucson Bird Alliance blog.
